Radiation Calibration Services

Precision. Compliance. Confidence.

Why Calibration Matters

Accurate calibration of radiation detection and monitoring equipment is essential for maintaining safety, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness. At ATOM SPEC, we provide calibration services for beta, gamma, x-ray, and neutron irradiators in accordance with recognized standards, including ANSI N323 AB, ANSI N13.11, ISO 4037, ISO 6980, ISO 8539, ASTM 51261, and MIL-STD 883.

Our services align with ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ensuring that every calibration is performed with the highest level of technical rigor and quality assurance. The equipment used in the calibration process is calibrated and carries traceablily to NIST.

A detailed technical report is provided as a deliverable. The report describes the equipment, techniques used to collect the data, uncertainties of the equipment and measurements (k=1, k=2), and radiation levels.

A detailed scope of work is discussed with our clients prior to start of work so that the deliverable contains all the information to meet customer requirements.

Custom fixtures can be included with the calibration so that all subsequent calibrations are performed consistently. Laser alignment tools can also be brought onsite if required.

Our Calibration Capabilities

ATOM SPEC calibrates and services a wide range of Category I (self-contained) and Category II (panoramic and beam) irradiator systems.

  • Gamma, beta, neutron, and X-ray irradiators and radiation-producing equipment

  • On-site measurement data collection, analysis, and detailed written calibration reports

  • Optional calculation tools for selected calibration types to determine exposure or dose rates at specified distances

  • Use of calibrated radiation detection instrumentation to establish and verify radiation reference fields

  • Dose mapping and center dose rate calibration for high-dose-rate applications using radiochromic film and alanine dosimeters
